Buffalostyle Radio on WECK
Buffalostyle , a radio talk show promoting positive stories about WNY life, will debut on Hometown 1230-AM WECK Radio Saturday, October 18, at 9 am. Christina Abt, Buffalostyle creator and host states that the focus of the show is to help create a more positive community mindset.
“As a Western New York Native who moved away from the area and now has returned, I realize that the people of this community are exceptional in their spirit and their willingness to join together for most any cause. However, I also know that we also are our own worst enemies in the negative self image we continually foster. Buffalostyle is designed to promote positive stories about the people in WNY that are often over looked and which definitely can encourage all of us to see our community in a different; and positive; light.”
Abt originated Buffalostyle Talk Radio in 2007, when she broadcast more than 20 shows on the WNY Media Internet website. Show guests ranged from JoAnn Falletta, Donna Fernandes, Amherst,Town Board Candidate Roy Wixson, A and E Cable Network Matchmaker Patti Novak and Family Court Judge Lisa Block Rodwin, to a conservationist specializing in straw buildings, a mom in need of round the clock nurses for her newborn son and a quartet of award-winning Williamsville high school musicians. Abt notes that WNY musicians round out her Buffalostyle programming.
“This community contains an amazing collective of musicians, singers and songwriters and I am pleased to be able to provide them on-air exposure and promote their talents. Each week I will feature cuts from various WNY musical talents and talk about their local play dates and locations where listeners can buy their music.”

Thanks for the plug….appreciate your support.
The first show was fun…had some interesting callers including the Mayor and Drew Cerza….and some great music by a group from Grand Island, One and One.
Next week it’s all about tee shirts….and the varied people in this community who have gone out and created pro Buffalo tee shirts and sell them independently.
Oh…and just to clarify …perhaps your readers should be a bit more careful before they critique…
I am NOT a Republican….haven’t been for a number of years.
As for boring…well, I guess each to his own….I tend to think of innane blog comments as first rate yawners……

I listened to the first show and enjoyed it.
In this day and age of doom-and-gloom talk radio, petty partisan politically-based blogs and all sorts of other negativity, I think one hour per week of “happy talk” isn’t a bad thing.
In fact, it’s a good thing.
I suggest listening to the show for a month and then make a decision on whether you like it or not.
Just my opinion…

I appreciate your efforts to bring to light that which makes Buffalo and WNY such a unique place to live. It is about time someone recognized the enterpenurial talent of small business people in WNY and the many other postives of living here. Keep up the good work!
P.S. Since when has having a positive attitude become a weakness Jack?
