Be Careful What You Pray For

Some of you may already be familiar with the ultra-right Christianist political organization called “Focus on the Family“. Here’s a wonderful video it put out prior to the Democratic convention in Denver:

As we already know, that didn’t quite work out so well. The weather was great, and 85,000 proud Americans heard and saw the next President accept his party’s nomination. They remained dry throughout.

However, a major hurricane is now barreling towards New Orleans, almost 3 years to the day after Katrina hit. Gustav will most certainly disrupt some of the hilarity in St. Paul, and so many people will be reminded over and over of the Bush Administration’s “heckuva job” back in 2005.

Perhaps God heard all of these cynical, hateful “prayers” and decided to teach the faithful a lesson.

wait. god is going to kill people, most of whom are poor democrats, in louisiana to teach the gop a lesson alan?

not the god i know and love!

maybe some hateful, former republican god would do a thing like that, a god of vengeance and ill-will.

wishing death and destruction on poor innocents in order to score political points doesn’t become you, alan.

On the other hand, being a whiny, self-absorbed jerk becomes you perfectly. So keep it up!

    - How does the possible loss of life and destruction of a major American city become so entertaining?

Again, if it was your family and home that was threatened by this storm then perhaps you would have a different reaction.

Can Americans disagree with out being disagreeable?

it’s disgusting, queen carlotta. just like former repugs to desecrate labor day, that monument to solidarity with our brethren.

“not flood people out flood people out of their houses rain,” the christian in the video says.

pundit, moore and the dnc chair hope for something more, the wrath of god to be visited on the already devastated city of new orleans to sate their own hateful blood lust. they want people flooded out of their homes, people floating dead in streets that have turned to rivers.

GOD DECIDED TO TEACH THE FAITHFUL A LESSON!!! rev. bedenko thunders.

    great job reverend!

cnn just reported $10 billion damage, and the price of gas is expected to jump 20 cents a gallon because all the offshore drilling has been shut down in the gulf.

guess that’ll show those doggone republicans, huh alan?

The reasons for the Katrina disaster have been fully illuminated.

Governor Blanco (Democrat) didn’t do her job
Mayor Nagin (Democrat) didn’t do HIS job.

We’ve just had flooding again in Iowa. Did you hear screams for FEMA?
where is government to rescue us? put us up on cruise ships for months on end? Give us 2000.00 check cards to give us money to spend?

Nope–They just worked together as neigbors and the state did it’s job, the local government did their job, and they will recover.
No local mayors suggested their city was “Vanilla”.

    What happened different this time?
Governor Jindal (republican) told the state to get busy and get EVERYONE OUT—the first time that all of southern coastal Louisiana was ORDERED OUT.

“Chocolate City” Ray Nagin knew the deal and made sure everyone left in the city realized that they were ordered out—and if they stay, it’s their ass–don’t look for government or anyone else to save you. Don’t stay home with your pets—take them with you.

Red Cross directors warned “IF YOU STAY–WE WILL NOT COME TO RESCUE YOU, YOU’RE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE IF YOU STAY HERE”.

My daughter, her husband, my grandson, along with a dog and 3 cats got out of Raceland, LA on Sat PM—24 hours later they were in Jacksonville FL, safe from the storms for now.
