If It’s Sunday, It’s DEBATE OF THE CENTURY!!$%@

This Sunday from 10 - 10:30 on WBEN 930-AM, Dr. Hardwick will speak with the Hamburg Sun’s Dan Meyer, and then at 10:30, the fireworks begin as the Democratic candidates for Congress from NY-26 debate.

Well, two of them will.

Kryzan and Powers are on board.

Jack Davis? His Highness the Duke of Losingham shan’t be bothered to discuss politics with the proles. He isn’t coming, and doesn’t care what you think. He doesn’t need to be bothered with pesky questions from Canisius professors, and can’t be bothered to “compete” in a “political campaign” because he has people to do that, and can pay for lit and ads.

UPDATE: And another thing. Illuzzi runs no ads for NY-26, yet he is running a cartoon that smacks Powers and Davis. Now, Illuzzi does just about nothing for free, and I strongly doubt he runs those shittily drawn cartoons for free. Illuzzi made a big deal about refusing Jack Davis’ money to smack Powers. I don’t suspect Kryzan is paying Illuzzi, either. There’s only one logical explanation.

Domagalski.

The Republicans must be paying Illuzzi to injure the Democrat they’re most afraid of running Chris Lee against, and that’s Jon Powers. Domagalski and Wojtaszek actually held a press conference a week or two ago to say very, very stupid things a couple of weeks ago, demanding that Jon Powers do exactly what he planned to do, and ultimately did.

Republicans sticking their nose in a Democratic primary race? It’s astonishing in its sheer transparent idiocy. But since they have absolutely nothing, evidently, to say or do to promote their own weak candidate, at least it kept them busy.

UPDATE: Professor Hardwick tells me that Davis’ camp isn’t even returning his phone calls, at this point.

UPDATE: To the top for the weekend.

    Tuco Says:

I’m seeing that Kryzan ad more and more on tv. I’ve seen it more than any Powers ads.

  2.

    Kevin J. Says:

Sorry, I can’t keep my inner editor from coming out, BP. The headline should read”… It’s DEBATE …”

  3.

    Kevin J. Says:

And, of course, my inner editor is now correcting himself for missing the space needed between read and the first quote mark.

  4.

    Buffalopundit Says:

    Thanks, Kevin.

  5.

    The Wizard Says:

Maybe Hudson will fill in for Davis, seeing that he loves him so much.

  6.

    mike hudson Says:

powers’ entire appeal to the voters of western new york is that he’s not the one guilty of bribery when, in fact, no one is guilty of bribery.

one can hardly blame davis for not wanting to sit across the table from a bounder who has accused him publicly of a felony crime, based on no evidence whatsoever.

it might be nice to hear powers state one single reason anyone should vote for him, rather than listening to his surrogates bash the other candidates in what has become the most negative congressional campaign in recent memory here.

say what you want about davis, he built a $50 million business up out of nothing here in western new york while powers’ lone accomplishment to date seems to have been supporting himself by running a charity scam and taking money out of his campaign funds to pay the rent.

actually, i hope powers wins. the last thing we need here is another person on the welfare rolls.

  7.

    mike hudson Says:

and speaking of incredibly stupid, pundit, how’s about subpoenaing a newspaper for chrissakes?!?!?!?!

  8.

    The Wizard Says:

Hudson - Take your beer goggles off. You know as well as everybody else that the reason Davis won’t debate is because his handlers are worried he will put his old, wrinkled foot in his dumb, racist mouth.

The reason this race is so negative is because the Davis campaign is an embarassment. Putting up a smear site? Give me a fucking break.

  9.

    Ghost of Ellis Says:

Jack must think he is leading in the polls, in which case he shouldn’t bother with a debate. Both Jon and Jack are their own worst enemy. If Jon was smart(insert laughtrack here) he would skip the debate too. He knows the issues of NY-26 less than Jack does. Victoria and Gerken won’t be able to hide his true lack of knowledge. Too bad Alice showed up so late for the dance.

  10.

    mike hudson Says:

“Jack must think he is leading in the polls, in which case he shouldn’t bother with a debate.”

you get a gold star, ghost.

“You know as well as everybody else that the reason Davis won’t debate is because his handlers are worried he will put his old, wrinkled foot in his dumb, racist mouth.”

pray tell, wiztard, is this the same reason obama has been ignoring mccain’s call for debates, public forums and town hall meetings all summer long?

  11.

    Stephen Nazwisko Says:

You know the easiest way to tell whose leading in the polls?

Look to see who doesn’t show up for a debate.

That said, pundit you are 10000% spot on with the illuzzi/domma the hut thing. Fuck that guy.

  12.

    Stephen Nazwisko Says:

    Domma the Hutt

I was asked to make this long ago, I’m proud to do so now.

    peter crotty Says:

My Name is Jack Davis……and I’m about to keel over and have a heart attack.

  14.

hudson like the drinky drinky Says:

hudson obvsiouly was busy watching porn in his mom’s basement during obama’s speech last night. Obama mentioned he’d be debating McCain over the next few weeks.

Powers was also the first to call for debates, it appeared on several blogs before Kryzan’s blurb did.

ghost of ellis- what polls are you talking about? Davis hasn’t been able to pitch a pole since his 3rd wife left him.

The guy built a nice business - but should government be run like business? Most businesses have multimillion dollar CEO’s and the hard working people who actually do the work get screwed. Davis wants to protect his business in congress - not WNY.

What’s he actually going to do in Congress? Besides smell like moth balls.

  15.

    dippity doo Says:

“oh my i’ve seen alice’s add all over - she’s so great she’s going to win because i saw her on tv twice”

Give me a break. Davis and Powers have been all over the place for a year - even when Davis wasn’t in the race he was talked about because he’s been up to bat 2 times before (but mighty casey might strike out this time).

And Jack Davis knowing the issues? I almost spit milk out my nose when I read that above.

It’s either going to be Powers or Davis. Davis has the money to win - but is that what we really need? Powers might be to young - but he was old enough to serve in Iraq.

He’s got platforms out, he held a teacher summit that my uncle went to (he’s a high school principal of 15 years) and said Jon’s the only candidate to understand because he listens. He’s created platforms on just about every important issue.

Kryzan had a funny catchy commercial, I’ll give her that - but she’s never said what she’ll do. Davis - he’ll save jobs, but what about creating jobs?

As of right now Powers is the only one actually talking about what he’ll do once he gets elected.

  16.

    hank Says:

Pardon me for saying so, but
The Republicans must be paying Illuzzi to injure the Democrat they’re most afraid of running Chris Lee against, and that’s Jon Powers

    Dale Volker (not) Says:

“Jack Davis, get off of my lawn! And take your broken down wheelchair with you!”

  19.

    Haterade Says:

Crotty … really - a heart attack ? I guess Davis REALLY must’ve pissed you off when he tried to run you and Judge Drury over during that rainstorm, huh ?

  20.

    Judge Drury Says:

I hate when it rains on a parade, especially when Davis is driving his Lincoln with Smithers.

  21.

    Observer Says:

Here’s the smoking-gun evidence that your theory is correct about the Jack-Jon attack “cartoon” having GOP fingerprints on it.

It makes fun of Powers for his “scrip club” support, but it makes reference to some generic scrip club name and not Rick’s Tally-Ho.

Which the GOP wouldn’t do, seeing how Lord Snowden is such a big fan of theirs.

  22.

    mike hudson Says:

while some of you obviously don’t have a problem sucking up to convicted criminals, i admire jack davis’ decision not to sit down across from one for some so-called debate.

yeah pundit, i know, it’s always the cops’ fault.

  23.

    heavyweight Says:

Stephen-Davis is scared to debate because he’ll put his foot in his mouth again or come across as a babbling old fool, like he did during his debate with Tom Reynolds.

Hudson-Turn on the spell check buddy.

  24.

    hudson loves little boys Says:

hudson - nice theory and all - it was great to see your paper on Davis’s attack add. Tell us all how you’re not in bed with Davis again?

Davis likes to try and pay off convicted criminals (offered Illuzzi money - has connections to you, although being fired for being drunk isn’t a crime) why not debate a guy who only paid $ 90 in fines? Because with all your legal knowledge you’d know it wasn’t a criminal offense that the plea was for. But I forgot you’re an idiot.

Davis won’t even debate Alice - whats your excuse for that Hudson?

He’s just and old crabby man with no guts.

  25.

    mike hudson Says:

a crabby old man with no guts who’s gonna kick powers’ ass a week from tuesday.

    so what’s that make powers.

as for the television advertisement, i have no control over what people do with copies of the reporter. in fact, if what i read here is accurate, most of them are used to line the cages of birds.

  26.

    The Wizard Says:

Hudson - after seeing that ad on TV there is no doubt you are in bed with the Davis camp. You are a drunk coward with a pickled liver. What a damn disgrace.

  27.

    mike hudson Says:

yes wiztard, a disgrace i may be. not stupid though, at least night enough to back a loser like powers for congress.

  28.

    Jon Splett Says:

So, all of you Powers supporters who are insisting Jack Davis is scared to debate your boy are going to back me up in a few weeks when Obama keeps Nader out of the presidential debates because he’s scared to debate him right?

  29.

    mike hudson Says:

mccain has been after obama to debate all summer. obama has consistently refused to participate unless the events were “moderated” by the mainstream media he carries in his pocket like so many nickels and dimes.

you can’t blame him. as the frontrunner, the risk is all his, mccain can only score points.

the obama cultists have seen this as good strategy. they refuse to apply it in the davis-powers-kryzan race, however.

i think kryzan will acquit herself well tomorrow, and make powers’ second-place finish a week from tuesday even more craptacular.

  30.

    amanda crotty Says:

Okay, everyone. I simply can’t stand on the sidelines after reading all these comments. Full disclosure - I worked for Jack in his first run.

    Some facts.
    1. Jack really cares about the people working for him. He knows if some Chinese company starts dumping heating elements on the market, he shutters up the plant and sends 3/4 of the town of Akron to the unemployment line. He makes boatloads of money and is very generous to the people who work in his shop.
    2. Jack thinks he can buy everything including this election. Ever hear his favorite line - do it right and do it right now. That’s not how it works on Capitol Hill.

Bottom line - Jack is not a bad person (unless you’re in a wheelchair in the rain and the tractor broke!). He is a bad candidate. He won’t do what it takes unless he can buy it.

Jack has helped many Democrats since he started running. He tied up Reynolds when no one else could. So thank you for all that, Jack.

He couldn’t do it last time when he should have beaten the hell out of Mr. Pedophile Cover-Upper Reynolds. I am disappointed he’s running again. He had his chances.

It’s time for someone who IS willing to DO what it takes. That person is Jon Powers.

So thank you Jack and go Powers!

  31.

    The Wizard Says:

Hudson - Why are you so sure Davis is going to win? Is it those fake polls that you saw when you were drunk? If this race was a Davis sure thing, he would not have released that terrible negative ad yesterday.

Your hatred for Powers is bizarre. I’m willing to bet you’ve never even talked to him or heard him speak before. Put down the bottle and come out to hear him speak some time.

  32.

    mike hudson Says:

i don’t hate powers. as you point out, i don’t even know him. and i don’t love davis. as i’ve stated repeatedly, i don’t know him either.

dan rivera, who is involved with the powers campaign as a fundraiser and head of the niagara county democratic committee, has lodged formal complaints with both the niagara county district attorney’s office and the state board of elections that have, thus far, resulted in my being officially questioned and made the subject of a subpoena.

    i hate that.

powers has used these “investigations” in his advertising, which leaves no other conclusion but that he approves of them. thus far, neither he nor his supporters have mentioned the fact that the da and the boe are required under law to look into all allegations of illegality, whether they think they are bullshit or not.

if davis had pundit subpoenaed by the state to see how much money he’d taken from powers over the past five years, i’m sure it would topic 1 on this web site. it would be a disgusting thing to do, a thing clearly designed to inconenience pundit and make him think twice about bashing davis in the future.

you, wiztard, would rise to pundit’s defense, talking about the stalinist tactics being used by the davis to quash criticism.

but pundit hasn’t been subpoenaed. i have. and davis didn’t do it, powers did.

now go fuck your mother like i told you before.

  33.

    The Wizard Says:

    Hudson and his conspiracies!!!

The fact that you think Powers has the power to get the gov’t to subpoena you makes me think that all the liquor you have taken in has destroyed whatever brain cells you have left. Get a grip on reality, Hudson.

I’m concerned about you Mike. I know you said you would give up your liver for the good times you had in bars, but it’s time to cool it out.

P.S. I will not fuck my mother. That’s gross.

  34.

    mike hudson Says:

every citizen in niagara county has the power to initiate what is known as a preliminary investigation by the district attorney’s office into suspected criminal activity, particularly in regard to election law. it happens in every single election here. dan rivera bragged on having made the complaint in the local media, he is involved in the powers campaign. end of story.

on the same day rivera made the complaint to the da’s office, he lodged a similar spurious charge with the state boe. if you think that with a democratic governor and with a democratic assembly that the democratic chairman of a county democratic committee does not have the power to get boe investigators to look into a criminal complaint you are even stupider than your alias would suggest. the investigators’ entire job desciption is to look into these types of complaints.

i can always sober up wiztard, you’ll be a moron forever.

  35.

    The Wizard Says:

Still solves nothing. You have no proof that Powers had anything to do with thew subpoena. You have an axe to grind with Rivera, so you choose to attack his endorsed candidate.

You’re right, Hudson. You could always sober up but after all these years you still haven’t chosen that option. Why not support Kryzan instead of Davis? She can’t pay you as much but at least she’s a better candidate than Jack.

  36.

    mike hudson Says:

i’m not supporting davis, as you well know. thus far, i have made two sworn statements concerning my/the reporter’s relationship with davis, both asserting that no such relationship currently exists or ever has existed. neither myself nor the reporter has ever recieved a dime from davis or any of his capaigns.

of course the truth doesn’t interest you, or any of the other jackbooted thugs associated with oberlieutenant powers’ failing campaign.

  37.

    KryzanRising Says:

You all are terrible people. Guys take it somewhere else. Take it to the land of make-believe where I live and think I have a shot of being a Congresswoman. I’ve been endorsed by absolutely no one, so I set up fake organizations to pretend people support me. Can you guess my name? It’s Alice Big Eyebrow Kryzan. Kryzan Rising!

  38.

    mike hudson Says:

if you have any evidence whatsoever that a relationship exists or ever has existed between myself/the reporter and jack davis, i suggest you call niagara county district attorney michael violante at 716-439-7085.

any such evidence would make me guilty of felony perjury, which i’m sure would delight a lot of crooked, opportunistic politicians like john powers.

  39.

    Lady Chablis Says:

Its all about Lady Chablis in NY 26th. Who is Alice Kryzan? I’ve never heard of her? Anyone? A little help?

  40.

    KryzanRising Says:

Hudson, what is your problem? Did you not get hugged enough as a child? You should be supporting Alice. No one else is. Yet, Kryzan Rising.

  41.

    hudson loves little boys Says:

wow hudson - you know so little about Powers you can’t even spell his first name right.

So you take out hatred for someone else on another person.

You even admit you’ve never met powers, and in one of your comments it looks like you’re admitting you’re drunk.

If you were drunk during your sworn statement - you couldn’t lied and said nothing was going on - then claim you were drunk. Good work. why to lie to the system!

  42.

    Greg Says:

I think Alice just referenced this site

  43.

    Jim Ostrowski Says:

Note to Kryzan and Powers, both of whom have, I believe, taken an oath to defend the Constitution. The Second Amendment has little if anything to do with hunting. That’s a canard. The purpose of the right to bear arms is to provide a check and balance between the power of the government and the people.

    Otherwise–

Kryzan is a policy wonk, which I mean as a compliment. But she’s too far left for that District.

Powers is evasive and short on detail. He can’t seem to go beyond the slogan or cliché.

Bourbon Dems should vote for Davis. “My Iraq position is simple – bring the troops home.” Mine too.

  44.

    The Wizard Says:

Jim - Powers can’t go beyond the cliches but you accept Davis’ Iraq position of “bring the troops home now”? wtf?

  45.

    Jim Ostrowski Says:

That’s not a cliche; it’s a clear statement of policy.

Here’s a cliché–Powers will make government more “efficient.” Kevin pounced on that immediately. What Powers doesn’t realize is that government is already very efficient, from the point of view of the politicians, employees, contractors and special interests. God help us if got any more “efficient.”

    What is Powers’ policy?

Obama’s is to end the war “responsibly.” That’s McCain’s position also.

What I like about Davis is that he’s not a politician; he commits gaffes–he makes the mistake of saying what he really thinks.

  46.

    hudson loves little boys Says:

    Jim -

and powers doesn’t? end the war responsibly, bring home troops now, how are those issues?

Even the General who wrote the plan that Alice is pushing — endorses JON!

You obviously have been hit in the head to many times as a child.

  47.

    Jim Ostrowski Says:

Which is it, end the war “responsibly” or bring the troops home?
