Past Buffalo
Although I’m loath to hold up and worship Buffalo’s “good old days”, I stumbled upon a fascinating and beautiful set of photographs on Flickr.
Evidently, Flickr user Vielles Annonces purchased a set of old Kodachrome slides from somewhere, depicting the travels of a Southern California family she doesn’t know. There is a small description of factoids that she was able to decipher through looking at the photos, but other than that, they’re just random color snaps from the 1950s and 60s.
Included in the set are several pictures of a snowy Buffalo in 1963.

Buffalo,Winter 1963–Hank is in 1st grade. Buffalo was a booming manufacturing center with over 500,000 residents. Donuts from Freddie’s. eat lunch at the lunch counter at WT Grant and Co. The windows in AM&A’s came alive.
From these pictures, Take a gander at the CARS
Picture two has a 62 T-Bird, a Beetle and a late 50’s Buick.
Picture four has what looks like an IHC carryall or perhaps a Jeepster.
Picture five has a early 50’s (looks like ) Pontiac 4dr (from the Trunk Handle and the taillights) and the back of a Checker cab, Picture 7 shows an old Ford F-1 Pick up on one side of the street, and on the other you have a 58 Chev 4dr Wagon, a two tone (pink and cream/yellow or white) DeSoto, and a Lincoln (58-59) in front of it.
Good stuff.
