Sing, Sing a Song

With apologies to the late Joe Raposo, what happens when a politically well-connected person is brought up on corruption charges? Oftentimes, in order to lighten his sentence, he starts singing like a bird.

Newwnypolitics’ Glenn Gramigna is reporting that John Fischer, the BMHA administrator of capital improvements arrested last week on extortion and bribery charges is singing, and the song is about Byron Brown.

The words “scandal” and “resign” are included therein.

    BP,

Not much on this at the newwnypolitics site, making it marginally newsworth. You ought to include the disclaimer “This is only a rumor” since so far, it’s only a rumor. Or maybe, “more at 11″.

On the off-chance that it’s not true, I’m weaving an intricate path around libel jurisprudence. Hence the way I wrote the post.

    Good Grief, eh?

I’m with the Pundit—let’s see how this washes out. If it washes out like Spitzer did, THEN I’ll have some fun commenting.

And frankly, though I believe Byron Brown to be a moron who was elected because the voters of Buffalo who bothered to vote thought, as did the Snooze “it’s time for a Black Mayor in Buffalo”– I truly hope the Mayor is not involved personally.

Obama Supporters might wish to take note of what can happen when you vote for someone to be “stylish”, as they did when voting for Byron Brown.

If further in doubt, watch Clint Eastwood in “The Enforcer” interviewing non-experienced office personnel cops to be Inspectors, because the city felt having women Inspectors, experienced or no, was “stylish”.

Bad enough that this person is a glimpse into Brown’s judgement. If he’s personally involved, the city I love just doesn’t need the Black Eye that this will bring.

The real crime is that the BMHA exists at all.

    Becky Says:

Some of the voters of Buffalo voted for Brown because they didn’t want Helfer, who was closely associated with Giambra. Probably other reasons too that I’ve forgotten. Voting for Einach was an easy way to avoid that decision, but wasn’t realistic in the long run.

It’s a mystery to me why anyone bothers to follow politics…but then it’s a mystery to me why anyone follows NASCAR……

I follow them for the same reason people follow NASCAR….it’s fun to watch people crash and burn…

Good thing all those white candidates trying to be “stylish” or anything. Why acknowledge that Brown, like most successful politicians, has a relatively powerful machine behind him? Just chalk it up to voting for the black guy that doesn’t scare you on the bus. . .

Anyhoo. . . Is there any indication as to how Brown is involved? Given some of the bottom feeders working for him, it wouldn’t surprise me if he had a hand in some sort of scandal. Even when there isn’t a scandal, he manages to create one. (See: Mayor Brown’s mischievous teenage son and how he turned that from the perils of raising a teenager into a more newsworthy and question raising incident.)

For what its worth, Brown says it’s not true and The Buffalo News says their sources in the FBI(?!) say they aren’t investigating the mayor.

Wow! Quoting Joe Illuzzi! Has BP jumped the shark?

    Buffalopundit Says:

Gramigna is no longer with Illuzzi, and I didn’t “quote” Joe Illuzzi, or otherwise refer to him in this post.

And for the record, I jumped the shark probably years ago.

    HTH!

Crash and burn, or just go around in circles making a lot of noise. I’d never noticed the similarity before. Thanks Jon Splett!

I thought I read that John Fisher is a 20-year employee of BMHA, which means he got his gig during someone else’s reign, not BB’s. And, isn’t Graminga’s site just another pay to play scheme, sort of Illuzzi-lite?

Don’t mean this as a defense of Brown, because lord knows there is plenty to poke at, but this just looks too much like someone opposed to Brown using Graminga’s site as a rumor launchpad.

    Richard Strongbridge Says:

Just the fact that the normal tight lipped Brown team, who doesn’t let any speak until he says so, comes out and puts out a statement to some unsubstantiated rumor smells a little fishy to me.
