Laura Bush Goes to Afghanistan
First Lady Laura Bush is traveling around Afghanistan, and is traveling via troop transport aircraft.
The seats and atmosphere in said aircraft are, evidently, unfit for a First Lady, so special accommodations have been arranged:
As the always-entertaining and smug British press puts it,
With wood panelling, plush grey carpet, comfy leather seats and, most importantly, thick window shades, Mrs Bush could forget she was anywhere near the War on Terror being played out below the clouds.
While travelling she could have been entertained by her TV and DVD player, hosted cocktail parties or, alternatively, she could have a nap in a choice of two beds.
It is one of 11 ‘Senior Leader In Transit Conference Capsules’ the US government plans to position at various locations around the world, at a cost of £8,000 each.
That’s not the best part.
The best part is the name of the aircraft in which the Airstream trailer is found:
The Spirit of Strom Thurmond. No word on whether the aircraft is segregated by race.

Maybe once Obama sees the comfort he can travel in, he’ll finally visit the war regions. How pathetic that Laura Bush is trodding where Obama’s afraid to. Go ahead and attack her for the comfort she’s been provided when Obama won’t even attempt a trip there. The First Lady has been to the war regions more often than a US Senator/candidate for President, but all that matters to you is the Airstream trailer and the British press’ take on it.

So Laura Bush Travels to Afghanistan with “preconditions”, mostly based on some comfort while traveling.
Obama won’t meet with General Petreus even WITH “preconditions”, or go to see how things are shaping in Iraq–I supposed when faced with the fact that just about everything he says and believes about Iraq is WRONG,I wouldn’t want to go there either.
Obama WILL meet with the leaders of Iran,Cuba and Venezuela WITHOUT Pre-conditions, closet Marxist loving fuck that he apparently is.
In my 10 years of service to our country–something most of the Obama worshippers here didn’t do, and likely wouldn’t do even if forced to, I’ve had opportunity to ride in cargo aircraft in webbed seats that face backwards, or on top of a tank or a jeep (no humvees back then).
And it wasn’t no 1 hour Buffalo/Chicago jaunt–more like Okinawa to Subic Bay Phillipines, a good 2/3rds of the length of the Pacific Ocean.
No way for a lady to travel–whether it’s Laura, Hillary or Michelle.
The Airstream makes more sense financially than to equip long range cargo planes with the comforts a civilian looks for. that would REALLY cost some dough.
If THIS is the kind of crap that you THINK will make people flock to Barry O and his empty platitudes of Hope and Change, think again.

Actually American troops were not involved in the bay of pigs invasion. The invasion force was comprised of armed Cuban exiles. And paratroopers were not involved in the hostage rescue mission (eagle’s Claw). The troops were flown in on C130’s
