It was a pure was of conquest. I guess there are plenty of Americans who have become so cynical now that they can justify this. But I think there are still a few of us who know right from wrong. Yes, a lot of good people worked hard to build up what has become the great American West, but we should remember that originally, it was stolen. That ad from Absolut spat in the face of honest American immigrants and those who worked to build the western half of the US into part of a great nation. In an 'Absolut world', companies wouldn't dare run such an ad because they would know in advance that a good portion of their clientèle would evaporate overnight. What a shallow statement.
