Rumors are swirling that a longtime local Assemblyman will soon announce that he does not intend to seek re-election.

    I’m indifferent about this if it’s true and if (IF) it turns out to be about sex but not with a law breaking component like Spitzer’s or Clinton’s.

    I thought Cole’s sleepover for example was a matter just between him and his wife. It wouldn’t be any different to me if something similar happened with any other assemblyman either.

    However since NY State will never have term limits, maybe the trouble these guys have keeping secrets in the web era can help serve that purpose. If it at least cycles through a little fresh blood into some elected offices, then it should be encouraged more often. How about instead of rules against things like partying with interns maybe they should make that mandatory? That could help generate some future “not seeking re-election” stories.
