Shorter Mike Hudson
Who does that uppity Barack Obama think he is, mucking it up for Hillary Clinton? I don’t blame the black people, who predictably vote for one of their own. I blame rich liberal white people. Obama may have won more primaries in more places and have more of the popular vote than Clinton, but she won the bigger, bluer states.
Also, eight years in the Illinois legislature, plus three years in the US Senate is less than seven years in the US Senate, as far as experience is concerned.

Hudson often sounds like a racist, last weeks paper he wrote of Crack dealers with gold teeth and the dreaded low income housing. Mike I am not rich, black or liberal and I would love to see Obama win. I think Hudson is just a miserable person not a racist and his wife is making him support her.(whipped) PS Mike, i am still waiting for my ass kicking maybe you should bring hank you may need the help.
Mike Walsh Says:March 11th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
That’s just Hudson’s opinion. There’s some good points to it but I think he’s generalizing too much. His point about limousine liberals is right on the money, though.
Rob Says:March 11th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
I’m sure Hudson will be thrilled that one of the gibbertarians endorsed some of his “points”.
Jim Ostrowski Says:March 11th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
“But the fact that they’ve never really known any black people, and have quite deliberately set themselves up in lifestyles that would almost certainly preclude them from getting to know any, instills in them a kind of guilt because they are, after all, very liberal, and therefore see themselves as being responsible for righting all the wrongs of this world.”
Great description of limo libs, one of my own bête noires.
albert Says:March 11th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
grow up, people. any chance folks are supporting Barack because he’s the smarter candidate? I know I am.
Jim Ostrowski Says:March 11th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
He is not so good at math. He counts small states like Alaska in the same category as nation-states like California. He was quite mediocre in the debates and only started to shine in those revival meetings. Few or no publications for a law professor.
Jim Ostrowski Says:March 11th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
(Biden won the debates in my view.)
Rob Says:March 11th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
I guess the theory that some white people support Obama because of “white guilt” is just as valid as the theory that a lot of middle aged white guys support Ron Paul because they’re closet racists. It’s fun to speculate on other peoples’ motives!
Mike Says:March 11th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
But why do people support Hillary Clinton?
Pauldub Says:March 11th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Because of her years of experience.
BWAHAHHAHHAHAHAHH
Sorry, couldn’t resist….
Mike Walsh Says:March 11th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
“the theory that a lot of middle aged white guys support Ron Paul because they’re closet racists”
Nice try, “Rob”. Funny that you believe smear stories spread by FOX. They also tried to smear Obama with that smoking story but the whole point seemed to go over your head.
Rob Says:March 11th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
You’re claiming that no Ron Paul supporters are racists? Nice try yourself.
Pauldub Says:March 11th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Shorter eac..
Bloggers rave about those they like. The candidates they do not like, as well as said candidates supporters shall be verbally abused.
Supporting documentation provided by Mike and Rob.
And how short is Mike Hudson? For a short guy he has a pretty decent paper.
eac Says:March 11th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
the kicker in that article, for me, was this:
As for Hudson, pah- I read the same piece, though far more carefully written, in The Economist this week.
mike hudson Says:March 11th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
thanks for the traffic alan! i think i got two clicks already!
mike hudson Says:March 11th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
by the way, i didn’t call obama “uppity,” hardly mentioned clinton at all, merely stated that irish, italians and jews have been voting their own for years so why shouldn’t blacks too? and, after pennsylvania, i’ll hold you to the importance you place on the popular vote, alan.
the column was not directed towards obama, who i will vote for if he makes it to the general election, or to his black supporters. it was directed against upscale white suburban twits whose support he would be better off without. you know who you are.
and as for mike, who wants to use a column item about eigth street i wrote two weeks ago to brand me some kind of racist, that’s my neighborhood, buster, and if you want a second opinion you ought to ask (the overwhelmingly black and decent) members of the block club who will tell you the same thing.
Christopher Smith Says:March 11th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Alan, Mike has waaaaay more credibility on this issue due to the fact that black people love him! /sarcasm
I find it interesting that Mike felt the need to justify anything with “I live near (decent) black people!”
Good for you Mike, we’re so proud that us limousine liberals have guys like you on the frontlines, keepin it real.
mike hudson Says:March 12th, 2008 at 1:40 am
chris, you dick….i don’t think i said black people love me, although around 50 percent of the reporter’s readership is black, a far greater percentage, obviously, than read pundit or geek. additionally, most of my neighbors are black, most of them are decent people and since when is that a dig?
note to wannabe journos everywhere: when you put quotation marks around something, you ought to make sure that’s what the person said. in young chris’s case here, you can check for yourselves.
note to alan and chris: since you obviously haven’t, you should read terry southern’s classic 1963 short story “You’re Too Hip, Baby” and save yourselves from further embarrassment.
Mike Says:March 12th, 2008 at 4:39 am
Mike, Get real, your paper is FREE does this maybe explain bloated readership numbers? Hint: add a few coupons. Also I was defending your remarks in which alan took as racist.
Rob Says:March 12th, 2008 at 7:55 am
“[The article] was directed against upscale white suburban twits whose support [Obama] would be better off without.”
That’s interesting, since (given how close the race is) they might very well represent his winning margin. I’ve seen this attitude a lot among Clinton supporters: they think Obama is a nice guy and a good candidate but he wasn’t supposed to win. They believe that HRC is entitled to the nomination, perhaps because until the primaries actually started the polls had anointed her the presumptive nominee. Now they’re rationalizing his start-to-finish lead in all sorts of weird ways; the Reporter article is basically a variation on Geraldine Ferraro’s “Obama’s winning cuz he’s black”. I think he’s winning because he picked a better staff (Mark Penn??? Seriously???) and has run a better campaign.
By the way, there’s almost no way Clinton could get ahead in the popular vote after Pennsylvania unless the Florida and Michigan votes are counted. That’s possible but unlikely.
mike hudson Says:March 12th, 2008 at 8:43 am
so now, in order for obama to win, rob, we have to grant the poor voters of florida and michigan a special dispension to HAVE THEIR VOTES COUNTED? that’s funny. it’s also undemcratic and unamerican. i cannot imagine the howls that would eminate from the obama camp if howard dean said, say, caucuses didn’t count.
Rob Says:March 12th, 2008 at 9:00 am
That the MI and FL primaries wouldn’t be counted was announced by the DNC ahead of time. Retroactively canceling caucus results wouldn’t be remotely similar. Sheesh.
The fairest thing to do would be to have do-overs in MI and FL, and let both candidates campaign there.
hank Says:March 12th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Actually the “FAIREST THING TO DO” would be:
for both the Obama and Clinton Campaigns to DO WHAT THEY AGREED TO DO WITH THE DNC.
But, it’s fun to watch the all-inclusive Big Tent Democrats claw at each other. TEAR IT UP!!! Great entertainement.
Neither Obama OR Clinton pack the gear to do a proper job.
Wanna watch unemployment and inflation soar? Re-Negotiate NAFTA, and put up some other trade barriers. Gas will be 10.00 a gallon. I’m sure all the Obama fans would “LOVE TO SEE” that too.
As for Limousine Liberals—There’s some in NYC. They take their Limo to the soup kitchens to serve meals for the homeless on Thanksgiving and Christmas, then jet off to the Caribbean, feeling good inside about themselves. I know 2 personally. No big deal, if they feel good about kidding themselves, so be it.
I don’t think anyone in Buffalo, at least the ones who I read here, have the money to Jet Set around the world and ride in Limos. If they did they would be living in WNY.
hank Says:March 12th, 2008 at 9:57 am
BTW, JO only made half a point. Out of the field that started, the only D that I felt qualified to do the job was Joe Biden, with Richardson as a VP they would have done a passable job.
Jim Ostrowski Says:March 12th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Richardson was my favorite Dem, which may explain his inglorious defeat.
Rob Says:March 12th, 2008 at 10:53 am
This just in!! Bush dead-enders and Lew Rockwell fans don’t like Obama!! Film at 11:00.
Jim Ostrowski Says:March 12th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
I’ve stated my grounds for disliking Obama here and elsewhere: he’s for bigger government than Hillary. And he’s full of rhetorical baloney. We face a dismal choice this year among McCain, Obama and Hillary. I won’t vote for any of them. I hope the Democrat wins. Avoidance of war is always the key issue for a true libertarian, not that either Dem will end the Iraq War. But McCain is more likely to start a new one.
