SPoT Coffee to Williamsville

It’s not just a Chippewa / Elmwood (Toronto / Rochester) thing anymore. SPoT is opening up on Main at Union in Williamsville. You can read the details here about the conversion of the old CVS at that location into a trendy coffee shop.
Also, SPoT on Elmwood will be splitting the former New World Records space with its neighbor, Brodo.

Huzzah! After Caffe Aroma closed, Starbucks at Main & California became untouchable. Forget about finding a parking space between 8-9am. This will be a welcome alternative, within walking distance. I’m all for keeping my money semi-local, but I hope the high quotient Hummer-drivin’, Bluetooth wearin’ ,country clubbin’,jail-bait oglin’ a**hole element that populates Starbucks in the morning stays there…
That old CVS building *is* fugly though - no doubt about it.

Amherst/Williamsville LOOOOOVES its mansard roofs. (That, and Capozzi-style neo-Mediterranean residential architecture, for some reason.) Not being a Elmwood snob — my roots are in the city’s outer neighborhoods and the Maple/North Forest area — but Amherst really does have a disproportionately large number of mansard-roofed structures compared to the bulk of cities and towns in the US.

This is right around the corner from my parent’s house. Hopefully they will take advantage of some super delicious goodies from DiCamillo Bakery across the street.

How dare you say anything bad about this building.

That building, like 70s’ clothing, can be appropriate in the right situation. Hopefully, they can make the Williamsville Spot a truly funky space that works off of the obvious oddity of the building. It could be a stark contrast to the corporate coolness of the nearby Starbucks.
