Hillary Clinton Tears Up
Yesterday in New Hampshire, an audience member asked Hillary Clinton, “how do you do it?” The reply:
This is the first time I remember Hillary Clinton showing any emotion in public beyond “happy” and “angry”. I don’t think there’s very much wrong with it. Surely, being on the trail for so long, and getting trounced by some young upstart at (and in) the polls, is taxing. It’s a hiccup in a long, otherwise completely normal national campaign.
It’s amazing that this choking up by Clinton, which didn’t amount to more than what, say, a pro ballplayer experiences when announcing his resignation, is engendering as much discussion as it is.
Some say she’s not being genuine. Luckily, most of that talk is relegated to the “Hitlery” crowd who hate her viscerally because she’s a Democrat and a woman. Witness the spectacle of Rush Limbaugh’s concern over this “set back” of feminism. Take some more hillbilly heroin, Rush.
Some say it shows she doesn’t have the mettle to be President. I think it shows that this country is more comfortable with the idea of a black president than a female president. Because no one mentions anymore that Mitt Romney has teared up on the campaign trail - twice.
In fact, it was John Edwards - that folksy guy with the sweet accent - who first suggested that Clinton’s tears underscore her unworthiness for the job. Edwards, therefore, is an a-hole.
In any event, the northern New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch voted at midnight last night, and the results are as follows:
REPUBLICANS
McCain 4
Romney 2
Giuliani 1
DEMOCRATS
Obama 7
Edwards 2
Richardson 1

The offending quote by Edwards: ‘I think what we need in a commander-in-chief is strength and resolve, and presidential campaigns are tough business, but being president of the United States is also tough business.’”
I don’t think that is so harsh. I suppose Helen Reddy was a “big a-hole” too, when she sang Don’t Cry out Loud. (even if the song was about breast cancer or puberty or something).
There, you’ve done it now, BP. You’ve gone and insulted the beloved Aussie Songbird. That makes me want to cry.
Also, Mitt R.O.M.ney 2.0 was programmed to cry - he couldn’t help it.

She managed not a tear when her husband cuckolded her several (dozen) times, and that should hurt a lot more than a political loss. This only proves she will go to ANY length, do anything that she thinks will help her obtain political power.
Her husband must have trained her, because the media showed several times during his terms that he can “Cry on Cue” for the cameras.
I was with my Congressman yesterday (Patrick McHenry,R-NC 10) and he made the comment. “DC Politics is Hollywood for ugly people.” And Hillary fills THAT bill.
May her campaign crash and burn. It would be the best thing that could happen to the Democrats. An End to the “Clinton Dynasty”, and perhaps a chance to break the status quo in DC.
Perhaps NY voters will see her Senate record for what it was–a Carpetbagger from AR looking to become President by bestowing empty promises on the voters of NYS—and send her ass packing back to Little Rock next time she’s up.
For all the good she’s done the state in the Senate, Run Byron Brown for her seat. After all, a C record replacing a C record shouldn’t hurt too bad.

I actually think this tearing up could help Hillary. If it were just about any other woman, it’d be a huge problem, but since it’s Hillary, who’s thought of as being cold, emotionless and over-calculating, among other things, it could help her look more human than she’s ever looked. This wasn’t a Pat Schroeder kind of breakdown and many people, especially woman, will be happy to see her show some emotion. Hillary lost the woman’s vote to Obama in Iowa, so there might have even been some strategy to this.
Is there a double standard since this is getting so much play and Romney tearing up barely registered? Absolutely, but this is not the only case of double standard. Politics is full of them. There is relativism applied to every candidate and politician.

Russell, I think you’re right. I am not a huge Hillary supporter but I think this was the most I liked her since the campaign started. She looked real. The thing about Obama is that he shows emotion all the time. He shows it in the passion he puts out there. By Hillary doing this, I think she will endear herself to many more women than she has.

Why doesn’t Mrs. Clinton resign her Senate seat if she is so “concerned” about where our country is going?? The second poorest city (Buffalo) has one fewer voice in DC because of her tired campaign. What has she ever done for Upstate NY anyway?
Perhaps she really is confused. Maybe she thought she was running for the position of President of the Borough of Manhattan rather than President of the United States.
I think the machine in Buffalo is going to be surprised on Feb 5 when they find out that Buffalo is Obama country. Hilary is to the nation what Jim Keane was to Erie County.
OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!

When I watch the film with Mrs. Clinton crying, I thought she was going to take a cue from Evita and sing “Don’t cry for me Argentina.” How phony can you get?

INDC–no, you moronic tool.
I was at his Hickory NC office, presenting a certificate from the Marine Corps League (and also a delegation from the American Legion)
for getting the CBO to fund a VA Health Clinic In Hickory, NC.
You can call him “Lavender Panties” ALL YOU WANT. We know who really wears lavender panties—BARNEY FRANK.
In 2 terms in the House, as I told him yesterday “Having you voting up there is like having ME up there”. He’s never voted on a bill that I disapproved of his vote. He’s got earmarks, but they all went to fire/police departments and Veterans issues.
Stick to what you know–troll.

When I heard her say “It’s personal” - it felt very self-serving to me and an immediate turnoff. Clearly, however, the voters of New Hampshire seem to feel differently.
I do find it ironic that most of the talk of the last few days has been about Senator Clinton’s crying, Senator Obama’s diffident manner in the debate, and really so little about anything that matters - like judgment.
