It’s nice to see HBO airing the Christmas special right around the time it airs in England. I’ve never understood why most US networks who air British television wait until months after the shows are debut over there before showing them over here. I had season 2 of Extras downloaded for months before HBO even started advertising for it over here and the same goes for most of the BBC America shows.
Also, if your looking for a few new British comedies to watch, I highly suggest The Mighty Boosh and Nathan Barley. Nathan Barley was only on Channel four for a season and probably won’t get a DVD release on this side of the pond but if you can track down the series on bittorrent, it’s one of the funniest shows I think I’ve ever seen. The Boosh is a bit more mainstream and BBC America shows the occasional episode late Friday nights and season three just started a few weeks ago in England. It’s hard to really describe, if there’s such a thing as an existentialist comedy about zookeepers I guess that’s what you’d call it, but as far as I’m concerned it’s the funniest thing the BBC has produced that hasn’t stared Ricky Gervais.
