Dear Canadian Shoppers:

Thank you for shopping Erie County stores. You’ve not only helped us avert a projected budget deficit, but so much so that if the XSPAND tax lien sale doesn’t go through, we’ll still probably be in the black.

Love, BP.

Does the exchange rate and lower total sales tax really make up for the tolls and gas spent getting here?

if you see canucks hungry and wandering downtown, invite them to your home for a pierogi dinner and a few beers, eh?

Greg, filling up here alone would save a cannock $31.40 based on a 20 gallon fill up, so i’m sure there is many more bargoons(sic).

Thanks, BP. I’ll co-sign that love letter. I’ll even throw in a chorus of “Oh, Canada.”

Canadian or U.S. money being spent in WNY is all good! The currency of the community right now should be a welcome mat with a smile, a handshake, a beer, and some cabbage rolls. Finish it off with a Tim Hortons. Thank you Canadians for helping us on 911 and standing with us in Afghanistan.

Retail prices, exclusive of taxes, are generally higher in Canada as compared to the US. Factoring that in as well, I think it does make the trip worthwhile monetarily. The wait at the bridge though?? That would give me pause….

It’s a great idea to extend a deserving ‘thank you’ to our Canadian cousins. But you can receive 100 compliments but it’s the one insult that sticks in the memory. So it is with the recent local TV reporter who was moaning and bitching about the lack of parking at the malls because of the Canadian shopping blitz. He and his station did more damage to our Canadian relations in his one report than any compliment can recoup. I wish I could remember his name and station…but I shouldn’t guess. Does anyone remember the story a week or two ago?
