Corruption
The Bush Administration has been using the GSA (General Services Administration) for political ends. Specifically, a meeting of GSA managers included a powerpoint presentation explaining how best to distribute GSA funding so as to help turn certain congressional districts from (D) to (R).
Because we’ve returned to that quaint anachronism of “checks and balances” as set forth in that other quaint anachronism the “Constitution”, tough questions are being asked, and lame answers are being given.
GSA resources should be spent where they’re needed. Not where they’ll most help the Republican agenda.

I’ve been pondering this question while I view this…when was the last time we had a corruption free administration…Carter maybe?
I know this really doesn’t have anything to do with your post…it is just disheartening to see one corrupt administration after another pollute the White House…

[…] I was watching some YouTubedness over at Buffalo Pundito’s site about the Bush Administration using the GSA (General Services Administration) political purposes and it got me thinking. Thinking about what you ask. When was the last time we had a corrupt free administration in the White House? All I could come up with was the Carter administration…not that his administration was without controversy. CB,
My answer to your question would probably be Jefferson or maybe Madison.
It is disheartening to see this, and as long as government keeps getting bigger, it will keep drawing this sort of corruption. GWB grew discretionary spending by something like 30% over his 6 years, and has created several new bureaucracies. The Dems, vowing the largest tax hikes in history, are only going to exacerbate this problem Not because they are any more corrupt/corruptable than there Repub counterparts, but simply by the fact that there will be a bigger pot of honey to draw the flies.

The Bush Administration is either very very corrupt or the most incompetent in US history. I have never seen so many White House officials suddenly get amnesia during sworn testimony. “Scooter” just could not recall events..Gonzalez has a hard time remembering events and now Ms. Doan has brain spasms in front of a committee. If these people are indeed honest and upstanding they certainly should not be working for the US. They can’t remember how to tie their shoes in the morning!!!!

As I read this I wonder if the best set up is that no one party has control of congress and the white house. When this happens can checks and balances really work? Don’t misunderstand me, I believe the Republican party of late is absolutely corrupt, possible the most corrupt in recent history. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
What is a shame is that I believe we are at a time in our history where we need real leadership. All that I can think of is the power Kennedy had to inspire us all and how much we have lacked that especially in the last 6 or so years.

Not for nothing, but… Kennedy was a pretty unremarkable president (maybe with the exception of the Cuban Missle crisis) and a pretty dirty poltician. (hint: 1960 election). He was an articulate pretty face and the first president to use the then-relatively new medium of television.

Higgins speech is like the pot calling the kettle black! He and his chief of staff have used his position and office to control the IP for the last 2 years and now he wants to point a finger at the RP and say stop it. Give me a break!

Nice job Brian-
go get them, it is about time we had some checks and balances.
Can the head of GSA put her head in the sand any deeper?
Team building!!!
