When I went wireless I knew I didn’t want to pay the Apple premium for the router, so I checked into Netgear. I settled on the RangeMax WPN824 which provides very good coverage around the house and yard.
I’m a tech writer so good documentation is important to me. I previewed their docs before purchasing (most vendors will have these on their support sites). The clincher was thorough explanation with OS X screen shots for Mac users. I have never had to call for support.
D-Link is good too, good luck with that.

We have airport, BP, and so far, it’s worked great. 4 cpus for 2 people and all getting access no prob. (Why we need so many machines is another issue.)
But I think the thing with apple is you never get the first release.

Linksys also makes good routers, especiallynow that they’re a division of Cisco
